A concept design for a sculpture to be built outside Finland. A wall with vertical cuts forming a pattern of a typical birch tree forest. As it is the voids in the wall that illustrate the trees, the sculpture forms a graphic negation of a forest symbolising the Finnish condition in a foreign territory. The familiar forest which can never be transported, leaves a void in our memory, a longing, which can only be fulfilled at return home.
